ParticipantWhat really caused you to buy some crypto? Was it just wanting to make some cash? DeFi? Games like PoolTogether or Decentraland? Or did someone just slip you the name of some random coin and you got interested?
For me, it was at first just wanting to make some money and holding some crypto. Bought $60 of BTC in February 2021, and was really excited..
Only to find out I couldn’t do anything with it except hodl, until I bought more at peak ($30) and all of it is now worth about $25.
First ETH purchase was January 2022, for $200. I also only held it for a little while, but found out about RocketPool and PoolTogether. Staked my ETH for 6 months or so, registered an ENS name, bought a couple Non-Fungible Tokens, and then stuck my $280 USDC into PoolTogether (I still haven’t won).
Now, my latest interest are LP. Put my ETH into wETH/rETH in BeethovenX, then staked the BPT tokens for that sweet sweet APR.
What was your first crypto interest?

It wasn’t my first engagement / interest in crypto – but when I caught sight of p2p lending for the first time, I really had that lightbulb momebt about the possibilities and impact

I’m the odd one out because I never spent a single fiat cent on crypto. Instead all of my crypto is obtained through beermoney/faucet sites.
The only reason I got into it is because Paypal won’t accept PTC sites and demand people to dox themselves so that they can get paid.

I was bored over winter break one semester in college and decided to start playing around with it. That was quite the rabbit hole. A very expensive rabbit hole…

I don’t have a lot of spare fiat but I consider this a small step above gambling with what little I have. Not to mention it gives me a lot of research to do so that keeps me busy.

Crypto was that potential love interest that you want to talk to but are having a hard time building up the balls to say something to. If you never try, you’ll never gain anything and all potential for growth is lost. I stepped up.

Because of 2008.
The aftermath of 2008 really made me realize what I kind of knew all along, but never had it stared in my face as blatantly, about the corruption of financial institutions, and how untrustworthy and dysfunctional the financial system was.
I went a little bit Occupywallstreet for a couple years. And in 2011, started to learn about Bitcoin.
I think it was around 2013 I got my first Bitcoin from a friend who was a miner.

I got into it to make a quick buck in early 2021. I’m a noob compared to most. That quick buck is now down 60%.
Edit….yes, it was Doge. I no longer hodl any.
