Let me start by saying that I do not expect the tail emission as it is currently constituted to change, nor am I advocating for it. I’m just trying to understand why it was chosen to be 0.6 per block and if it could have been designed differently.
Why was 0.6 xmr chosen and not for example 1 xmr per block? Why did the developers go for a fixed tail emission instead of a percentage based tail emission, i.e. 1% per year. Is it even technically possible to program in a perpetual inflation rate of 1%?
Grateful for anybody who can shed light on these questions.
