Eth2? Side-chains? layer 2s? Locked stake? wrapped eth? How is all of this going to work?

Dapps are moving from eth to sidechains and layer 2s, will they move back to eth2 when it is released? Will they move to eth2 for a year or two and then have to move back to layer 2s or side-chains if ETH gets congested?

I can’t wrap my head around how all of these ERC-20 tokens keep up with this all?

A layer ones main job is to be stable and not change a lot. ETH has made so many changes so fast it has my head spinning. How is this sustainable?

All those transactions settle on the Ethereum block chain. Nothing to worry about. You can use them on mainnet as well as layer 2 or side chain. Use whatever is cheaper or faster for you. It’s all good.

Eth has not made a lot of changes. The only major change recently is switching from pow to pos. Forget about eth 2 that’s not a thing. The current path of Ethereum is that layer2s will be the execution layer for most dapps because this is far cheaper than using Ethereum mainnet and will have the same security. Basically, most transactions will occur on layer twos which then post those transactions to the Ethereum mainnet as a group of transactions. This gives you cheaper fees without losing ethereums security/decentralization.

The plasma white paper which was the initiation of a lot of this came out august 2017. So it’s been an idea 5+ years in the making.
Have you used any dapps on eth and side chains? Try it, you’ll notice differences in aprs and gas costs that may be meaningful.

Ux/ui will make it easy to use layer 2 in a few years. Best analogy is how there are banks which are safe and stable and payment companies like Venmo PayPal zelle etc to make transfers.
