Hi! Looking to invest in AVAX for long term (5 to 10 years). Is it worth it to invest at the current rate of about $88? And considering the circulating supply currently 220.3 million & market cap $19.5 billion, what is the highest that AVAX can realistically/conservatively go? Thanks for helpSunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358902crap_punchline
5 years could be an awkward amount of time, lets say we go up from here but go into a bear market sometime next year, by the time the 5th year rolls around, you could be back to break even. 10 years and its possible that Avalanche market share could have been eaten by Ethereum zk rollups or another outlier platform like Radix but Im not banking on this idea of Ethereum supremacy at all, I see Avalanche as a long term contender.
In terms of how high it can go now, depends how optimistic you are. Ive seen estimates that give AVAX a price of about $700 if we are a top 10 coin and the total crypto market cap does a 3x from here. If we go top 5 then we are looking at $1000. I think this is possible.
But bear markets are harsh in crypto. Eth did like a 95% plunge in the last bear market. Will they go as low as last time? I dont think so but I have noticed that when the markets correct, AVAX has been heavier than other platforms for whatever reason. So if the summer mini bear market put us at 9 dollars, I dont see any reason why we couldn’t revisit that. 400 to 9 dollars, just imagine it.
After considering this, I would say the thinking man would probably put a small amount of risk capital in now to see whether you can make a gain over the next few months but I would be keeping the majority of my dry powder for two/three years time when the hype has washed out of the market.
And if I was using risk capital then id want to be further out on the risk curve, so id likely be holding AVAX, JOE and TIME.Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358911Simple_Yam
My main strategy for smart-contract platforms that are just infrastructure (Ethereum, Solana, Avalanche etc.) and not a store of value like Bitcoin is to value them at $1 Trillion market cap each in the next 5-10 years. Obviously there will be many crashes until we’ll get there, it’s very likely that Avax’s price will be lower than it is now in 2 years if previous bear markets are of any indication.Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358910noxeras
Imo avax has potencial and good fundaments to reach at least 150-200$. 100$ is very close and will be a physical barrier here. There are a lot of defi already on avax and will be more in future. Avax is designed to build external protocols on it, similar to polkadot but with more fair design – no auctions etc. If you are looking for mid/long term go wonderland bro. And if you want a more risky way buy some avax, deposit at aave as collateral, borrow some stablecoins, buy TIME and stake at wonderland. After 30-45days you dont even care about time price, because you will be far above your invest value.
Second option is joe/xjoe bec its very undervalued right now.Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358909twignleaf
Been using Avalanche for the past couple months, and I’m pleasantly surprised by its developments so far and it lives up to its marketing (fast, low fees, secure).
The ecosystem is expanding still, lots of new projects launching there and more to come. Check out the use for subnets and you’ll get an idea of where they want to go in the long run – it is similar to what Polkadot wants to achieve.
With defi, NFTs, metaverse narratives right now, I think Avax is a great alternative to avoid 80-120 usd gas fees on Eth.
Of course Avax just started and there is still a long way to go. I won’t go all in, but based on its utility and developments I see them having good staying power down the line.Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358908Dan466
Time in the market > timing the marketSunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358907gkaykck
IMO, it can go just below Solana which can push above ETH. So there is still a lot of room for growth.Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358906[deleted]

I have a small bag of Avax. I’m not going to truly scoop up a substantial amount until BTC has a real bear market blow off top. That’s when I’ll stock up, projects come and go and sometimes they don’t come back to their prev ATH.Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358904psiconautasmart
It is still a young project in time terms since mainnet launch so I would say yes, 5-10 years is long term so yes.Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358903todayisagooddayyep
$5000 to $10,000 easy long termSunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358901[deleted]
Time in the market is better than timing the market. The current price us a reflection of the entire world market, what individual can say the price is wrong? No oneSunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358900KaiSosceles
Highest that AVAX can conservatively go?

I would continue to buy as much as possible, AVAX is going to $300 this bull run, it is a $11b lowered in market cap than shit coin SHIBSunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358898Mctijn
My advice is not to plan 5 years ahead. Avalanche will probably be replaced by better and/or faster products.
Plan to keep your holdings at the end of the bull cycle. Sell them for nice profits and accumulate them again later on. This way you can take a step back and look how the market is evolving.
I expect a lot of AVAX (and SOL, ADA etc) competitors are lauching on Polkadot the following years. The future is open, don’t fall in love with your investments 🙂Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358897Xanth1879
I bought in around $70.
I intend to continue to increase my position with AVAX too. I’m in this for at least 20 years.Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358896ayodasjago
Jesus Christ. Comparing Polkadot to Avalanche is comical. They don’t even do the same thing.
Avalanche is one of the cheapest coins to interact with (gas fees) and those fees are going to be reduced from cents to mili cents in the near future. Do you want to send 800,000 to another wallet?
That’ll cost $0.6 sir.
What about speed? As of now, Avalanche and Solana are the two fastest Layer 1 chains. When measuring “true speed” measured as time to finality, $avax is the fastest network.
What about growth? Avalanche is more like a layer 0. Do your own research and it’ll blow you mind.
Watch the London Real episode with the founder, Professor Emin Gün Sirer. He teaches computer science at Cornell University. If you want to invest and make serious money, get on crypto Twitter and follow 100 different devs that work for Avalabs or really any of the L3s written on top of Avalanche’s network. There are new projects, tackling new problems, every single day. Invest and diversify.
$JOE and $PNG are the top two DEXs by a long shot. If you want slightly cheaper trades, use Trader Joe. If you want to browse existing projects start on either of those exchanges. Good luckSunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358895honeybabymoney
For long term investments like you mentioned: Buy when you see headlines on tv like ‘Incredible fall: Bitcoin crushed down -xx%’ That’s the end of bull.
I threw an amount to $AVAX back in July when it was $11, an amount that i wouldn’t check my portfolio everyday obsessively. Many crypto ‘influencers’ were expecting $BTC go down to $20k at the moment. Buy when everybody is scared AF, sell when everybody is bragging about themselves for their profits on market.Sunday, August 21st, 2022 at 13:52 #358894Menghito
Do a pac, 1 time a week for x week a % of your total entry, best strategy for long term position
