- Griffin has raised $750 million in a gaming and Web 3.0-focused fund Reading Time: ~2m Venture capital firm Griffin Gaming Partners has raised $750 million in a fund focused on the gaming industry and the Web 3.0 segment. Co-founder Nick Tuosto told CoinDesk that Fund II has already invested in 16 decentralized Internet-related startups. They have accounted for about half of the capital. "[Web 3.0] - is one of our central theses in terms of the macroeconomics of gaming. We believe that the ability to own digital assets could be one of the most important technological discoveries in gaming history," he said. Tuosto said the fund has been backed by institutional investors, university foundations, family offices, retirement programs and strategic partners in the gaming industry. Griffin was founded in 2019 by Nick Tuosto, Phil Sanders and Peter Levine. The firm invests in early-stage startups in the areas of gaming content, social platforms and Web 3.0. Portfolio companies include Forte, a gaming blockchain platform, and Discord, a messenger popular in the cryptocurrency community. "The lines between gaming, media, sports and social interaction are blurring. By tracking more than 1,300 qualified investment opportunities a year, we're gaining insight into the industry and what it takes to succeed in the next phase of interactive entertainment," Sanders said. As a reminder, investment in the GameFi segment's infrastructure and blockchain games reached $1 billion in January.

- How Blockchain could redefine the gaming industry The state of the gaming industry today The vast majority of online gaming follows a centralized model. This means that all related data is stored on a server fully controlled by the game administrators. Typically, the data includes account information and server history, which records and stores all events and in-game assets collected by players (such as collectibles, items, and virtual money). Because the database is owned by a single company, players do not actually own their accounts and items. In other words, the power is in the hands of the game companies. How can blockchain benefit the gaming industry? Let's take a look at a few of the ways blockchain technology is changing the gaming industry today: Asset ownership. Blockchain can simplify and protect the ownership of in-game items, which is one of the main uses of NFT today. Typically, each asset is represented by a unique non-interchangeable token (NFT) such as ERC-721 tokens. Regardless of the type of asset, they can all be linked to blockchain tokens supported by the distributed network. Transparency Developers can create independent economic systems in games. Because the structure is decentralized, an added benefit would be the level of transparency. Giving power back to the people The inclusion of blockchain will make the gaming space more democratic. By introducing voting rights according to the number of tokens, developers can make decisions that players find appealing. Payment Optimization. Last but not least, using blockchain instead of centralized servers allows games to reduce transaction time and costs. Limitations of blockchain in games Creating and maintaining a game on blockchain is easier said than done. Let's also look at some of the limitations of blockchain in games. Scalability Scalability is one of the most significant limitations of blockchain, since centralized networks tend to be much faster than blockchains. Demand Demand for blockchain games is much lower than their traditional counterparts because of the scalability issues that developers face. Centralization Blockchain games are not always decentralized. Some games use a centralized server to distribute tokens. Support Developers. Fundraising is often difficult when it comes to supporting a blockchain game. Resources Small groups make it difficult for blockchain game developers to compete with large centralized game developers. An example of blockchain games Blockchain-based online multiplayer games have successfully leveraged the potential of distributed storage technology as a fundamental infrastructure. This not only ensures the uniqueness of various game assets, but also supports the value proposition. One of the most successful examples of modern blockchain games is CryptoKitties. CryptoKitties, launched in 2017, allows players to buy, breed, enhance and exchange virtual kittens on the Ethereum blockchain. After the huge success of CryptoKitties, many developers have come up with similar concepts and projects, including CryptoBots. CryptoBots is another online multiplayer game in which you can buy robots and improve their skills to compete against other players. In the case of CryptoKitties, you can create unique virtual kittens. Similarly, with CryptoBots you can create robots with unique skills and abilities. Generally, blockchain is used in the gaming industry in two ways: The entire game is built on a blockchain. The developer can run the game off the blockchain instead of relying on centralized servers. The game could run on a centralized server, but it would have a blockchain-based platform to manage tokens, digital currencies and collectibles. One example of the first type is Taurion, a game built on the XAYA blockchain. The entire game is built on XAYA and has no centralized servers. In short, running a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) on a blockchain helps developers and players overcome some of the limitations of a centralized server. Soccer Manager Elite is another blockchain-based game developed by XAYA. In this game you can own, organize and play online soccer. TRON is currently one of the most game-friendly blockchains, providing easy customization and a streamlined development process. It is a decentralized blockchain-based platform that aims to create a free global digital entertainment system with distributed storage technology that enables easy and cost-effective sharing of digital content. We can expect more and more cryptocurrency marketers to create game-oriented blockchains in the future. Final thoughts. Blockchain could reshape the game world as we know it and could end the monopoly rule of a handful of publishers and game developers. Online gamers tend to favor digital items sold as in-game tokens over traditional purchases without a unique value-for-money proposition. While we may have to wait a few more years to see widespread use of blockchain in gaming, we can expect a more transparent, secure and democratic gaming environment in the future.

- Gaming industry is only getting better with time The latest cryptocurrency craze has just accelerated this from exponential to light-speed growth. With barely time to spare, see how gaming tokens have become the biggest investment of our time. They continue to compound their success and riches day after day, with no indications of slowing down. There are an increasing number of projects being released. Take, for example, Metaverse 7, a new enterprise that has captivated the interest of millions of people all around the world despite its recent debut. Believe me when I say that this planet will prosper. I've seen how the world has gone from aversion to full immersion in games, and I'm confident that Non-Fungible Token gaming will be adopted as the next global gaming standard. An old-school gamer like me (early 30s) remembers what gaming used to be: a few faint black and white pixels on a screen. I truly saw the world transform from a side hobby to the worldwide powerhouse it is today. This is ludicrous, and it can only be used to demonstrate its splendor when compared to what it was in the past. Toys are loved by men and women of all ages, as time has proven. We're wired to like games, and with how realistic and engulfing they've grown, they've become a full-on simulation of our deepest wants. At the stroke of a button, just behind a screen, gaming provides folks a buzz they couldn't have in the real world.

- The entire gaming ecosystem mapped There are so many types of metaverse ecosystems. However, what I want to say is that if you are into music then you will probably look forward to these types of metaverses. For example, the latest news is that Dolly Parton will launch her own metaverse called Dollyverse, so if you are her fan you will probably check that out. I am more of a guy who is into gaming whole my life, so the logical step would be for me that I search for gaming metaverses, and yeah, there are plenty of them with all their coolest Non-Fungible Token collections, whether these collections are some game assets such as weapons, armor and so on or the new avatars for your game, but everything is very nicely designed and connected so that it can present one great gameplay. As soon as I found this picture on Twitter (below), I was so happy to start looking for similar gaming platforms and metaverses. In my spare time, I do a lot of research to find similar projects. My last discovery was Metaverse 7, a platform that offers a number of services, including Non-Fungible Token gaming and gaming industry tokenization and I am looking forward to their upcoming Non-Fungible Token collection. I have already seen a lot of new projects that are a real refreshment for the metaverse. https://preview.redd.it/64j9rytgogl81.jpg?width=1600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a099c34909453f6469594365163d7e43c53e70a2 The entire gaming ecosystem mapped

- The best bet you can make right now is with the gaming industry Many won’t get this, or won’t understand how to actually use this to this their advantage. The gaming industry is one of the biggest sectors the world has ever seen, and ever will see. It deserves your full attention, it deserves your due diligence in study, and it’s worthwhile return on the time you spent on it. I wish I learned this sooner, because I wanted to buy into the massive game corporations back in the day, namely gaming cube, Xbox, PlayStation, when they used to be cheap. In a time before inflation, back when money meant something and back when wages could get you something to buy with, food and on your table and even a little reserve for some side investing. Good times. Well, I didn’t. My parents told me not to enter the gaming industry, they told me it will pass and fade away. It didn’t. I missed out big time, and I could have had myself a decent profit on my investment by today. Shame. I’m trying to make the best of a bad situation, now that I am still struggling, though I have the means to invest. I try to push myself into the gaming industry still, now that gaming tokens are a thing and making a powerful move upwards. Tokens like the Metaverse 7, which provides users with the power to play Non-Fungible Token games and invest in the gaming tokens. Get the best of your generation’s reel up, don’t make the same mistakes I made. Understand that trends matter, and they can work for you favor.

- The entertainment factor in Non-Fungible Token gaming is just as important as profits. What I’ve notice recently is that developers have been mostly focusing on profits and completely disregarding the entertainment factor behind Non-Fungible Token games (which is what makes a game… a game). This won’t cut it if we’re wanting to go mainstream with Non-Fungible Token gaming. People aren’t going to leave conventional gaming and start playing Non-Fungible Token games just to make a couple hundred dollars trust me. We need to start seeing more projects the likes of Citrus that are contributing a lot when it comes to Non-Fungible Token game development and are improving the GameFi experience for all. If not, then we’re bound to stay at this current level and most certainly not make it to mainstream status.

- The major investments this year are in GameFi and Metaverse projects We can’t overlook how mainstream companies are investing billions of dollars in metaverse and blockchain gaming projects, meaning that this year the decentralized gaming industry will be booming. And i can’t help but wonder which projects are worth investing in since a large number of crypto gaming projects end up failing. The most efficient way to do so is through launchpads like SolanaPrime that’s aims to crowdfund serious game projects and empower the upcoming wave of Web3/Metaverse game titles on a global scale. Being early on a gaming project that has potential to revolutionize the industry is extremely important right now.

- Crypto Gaming is booming, BULLISH! Most of us are familiar with the in-game credits or coins that are related to the score of a player in a game. This is a nice system of rewarding players with virtual currency for their store. But the credits have value beyond the scope of the game, rendering them useless except for a niche in-game store value. This is where Crypto comes in, adding real value to the game's in-game credits, incentivising people to actually devote time to play the game, getting more credits meaning more downloads and time spent in the game. Crypto would also solve one of the most discussed topic in modern video game aspects- digital ownership. When the player turns off the game, the in-game credits and other assets are stored with a central authority, and are not really 'owned' by the player, despite the player having bought them by real/virtual credits. This is a very unique and useful use case for Crypto, and the crypto space looks bullish

- Blockchain gaming will potentially put a lot of gaming companies in the industry out of business Game developers spend countless hours trying to perfect games only to be bombarded by inhumane work conditions, infeasible deadlines and end up not being properly reimbursed for their time and efforts. Blockchain gaming integration and adoption will allow game developers to move to web3 and show off their talents on their own time and accord. I believe once blackchain gaming is perfected no game developer worth his time will spend an extra minute working under corporations when they can make it bigger and better on their own. I believe DAOs are gonna have a massive role to play in this, since a lot of disbanded game devs have reformed and launched studios on their own, and through DAOs this will become much more accessible and easier. Blockchain gaming adoption is going to also allow the players to own the things they buy and have them shoot up in value, from in game Non-Fungible Tokens to skins, the user will have real ownership of what they're getting, like for example what BitDAO is doing with Game7 ecosystem. All in all, I believe corporate gaming companies' days are numbered when blockchain gaming takes over. Their private networks will become obsolete and open source will take over, allowing for more transparency, and better innovation.

- Crypto gaming sucks. Let’s face it, crypto gaming at its state is horrible. Decentraland and Sandbox are clunky and feel like shitty Roblox clones, but this time.... everything is with crypto!! Axie? overpriced and generic. Crypto Royale? Agar.io but if you’re lucky you can win a few pennies! And don’t even get me started on the hundreds of satoshi “casinos”. Every crypto game I’ve played is just something you’d expect from a free flash game website but every asset is a Non-Fungible Token for no reason. Please, someone change my mind on this topic.

- Just image if GameFi came earlier when you played a lot of video games GameFi is a combination of the words "game" and "finance," and is one of the cryptoverse's hottest buzzwords. It is the process of gamifying financial systems in order to create revenue through crypto games. The blockchain-based GameFi video game initiatives allow users to prove their ownership of virtual items in the game. In contrast to traditional gaming, where consumers play to win, GameFi projects take a Play-To-Earn approach. Earn money by playing games. It's that simple, almost too easy to be true. Logging up, playing your favorite game, and earning free money is as easy as that. Consider how much money you could make if all of your time spent playing League of Legends or Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was converted into cash and paid to you directly. This is available in games like CoinFantasy, Coin Hunt World, and others that leverage the P2E basis. Get in early and earn money today so you don't have to work the next day. You will be grateful to your future self.

- GameFi Scholarships: Changing the Asian countries for the Better? Maybe some of you are already familiar with the concept of Scholarships from GameFi Play2Earn projects like Axie Infinity and Pegaxy, but for the majority: Scholarships are job positions for namely young people in Asia especially the Philippines, looking to make what to them is really good money (above the minimum wage in fact) playing games for their "Managers", the holders who lend out the NFTs required to play the game (without giving access to their wallets of course) and the profit generated is then shared between them. I have heard stories from Scholars who have been able to put food on the table for their entire family, while others use it as a means to support themselves financially while they get an education. In light of CZ's latest demand of "10 Fundamental Rights for Crypto Users" with the very first being that "every human being should have access to financial tools, like crypto, that allow for greater economic independence", are these projects potentially creating a financial revolution that will change the face of underdeveloped countries? Share your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.
