Bitcoin is a decentralized digital currency, without a central bank or single administrator, that can be sent from user to user on the peer-to-peer bitcoin network without the need for intermediaries.

- BlockFi has now filed for bankruptcy, Celsius paused all transactions and others are following since FTX collapsed. Is our money/crypto gone and irretrievable? This is getting more and more insane. Many of us were aware that not our keys not our crypto but put some of the funds in these “trusted” apps for interest as they promised with their protocols, safety measures, insurances and were trusted by “respected” people in the industry. Since the whole thing is not regulated does this mean everyone’s money is gone? I know it was a mistake but what can be done now? p.s, how is SBF not arrested yet? It’s the biggest fraud of at least modern history and he was openly tweeting about being a fraud.

- Why do you hold bitcoin? What is everyone’s motivations for holding bitcoin? Is it just because you think your gonna be rich? Or is it bitcoins idealistic proposition? I believe bitcoin will become the worlds reserve currency. satisfying the criteria of the Austrian economic theory. (Digital gold) However I just believe most people think they are gonna get rich. I don’t own bitcoin. Mostly because it’s expensive and I’m not rich.

- BTC can do no wrong! BTC has worked flawlessly since it’s inception and has never been hacked. Very few other cryptos can make the same claim. Smart contract cryptos are a hot bed for hacks and security breaches. The amount of money lost due to smart contract hacks is astronomical. You can make the claim that it is the fault of the dapp developer, not the base layer chain, but none the less, it greatly devalues the use case for the base layer chain. BTC is the perfect final-settlement layer. Tick tock next block!

- Why cant BTC adoption be curbed by central banks the same way they curbed Gold? So as I understand, central banks offer sovereign gold bonds which are essentially paper gold. And because they hold the money printer, they never have to hold any actual gold. They just settle redemptions is fiat. This suppresses the price of gold. The same can be done with bitcoin. And a lot of people would simply start buying these paper bitcoin as there is no risk of losing it. On top of that central banks can actually offer interest on these products as they control the printer. I asked this to a lot of normie friends who hold bitcoin. "If your central bank offerred a bitcoin etf, that was fully insured but only redeemable in fiat, would you buy it". The answer was an overwhelming yes. The current sovereign gold bonds in my country even say in their disclosures that they hold no gold in reserves. And yet people dont care. So my question now is how do we stop this from happening? Does btc see the same fate of gold by the hands of central banks. Free thinking is on a decline and I dont see any way out of this situation with the npc population we have today.

- BTC mining difficulty Hi BTC community, I'm making a free tutorial on how BTC is working for beginners... Thus, I would like to cover many subjects, among which the "Mining Difficulty". I understood that the Difficulty = Current Target / Max Target **Questions** * Where can I find the Current Target? How is the current target defined? * Why is the MAX target fixed at 00000000FFFF00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 and not F's only? which would be the highest hexadecimal figure * How to interpret the Difficulty figure? * For instance, today we have a difficulty of **36,950,494,067,222**. * What does this figure mean exactly? * Does it mean that we would need an average of 36.950 TH as hash power to find the target hash? * I can see that an average ASIC has a hash power of 166TH/s, thus, it would take 0.21s to find it out... which is not logical... where am I wrong? :-D * (Current difficulty source: [https://api.blockchain.info/charts/preview/difficulty.png?timespan=1year&h=405&w=720](https://api.blockchain.info/charts/preview/difficulty.png?timespan=1year&h=405&w=720)) Where can I find resources detailing these concepts? I could not find resources explaining such details... thanks in advance for your help

- a teen interested in the idea of cryptocurrency. Hello, am a disabled teen. I've been looking at the idea of crypto and while I am on the fence about the idea of cryptocurrency, bitcoin seems to be a stable project. I plan that when I reach my adulthood to get a job, I plan to invest 10 bucks a month into bitcoin. Does that seem doable? I do not expect big returns but mostly as a way to compensate for my own finance in case if there's emergency.

- The pattern is so obvious **Information:** Before the internet, you had to go through centralized broadcasting platforms like radio, television, or newspapers to send information or content around the world; they might or might not even approve it. Thanks to the internet, you can now build your own website and produce content, or sign up for any content service platform that can be reached globally without them. **Communication:** Before the internet, you have to go through several post offices to communicate with people all over the world by sending mail or calling phone operators to use computerized telephone directories to find telephone numbers that callers request and make connections for calls. Thanks to the internet, we can now communicate globally by typing a few words and hitting send in a few seconds or just pressing the phone icon button. **Money:** Before the internet, when you want to send any amount of value of a currency to other people around the world, you still have to go through these bank institutions and wait for 3-5+ business days and fill up some stupid papers and wait for your transaction to be verified. Even though we already have the internet, we're still in this phase. Don't look at the price, look at the pattern - it is so obvious and I believe we're still early. The financial industry is the largest in the world. Do you think they won’t say anything bad about BTC if their industry is at risk? Of course, they do, but they can't it.

- ELI5: A person buys crypto from exchange FTX. FTX sells them IOU (I owe you) crypto and says we’ll hold it until IOU until you need to withdraw, transfer, sell etc… Markets conditions (media whistleblower, hack, ftx couldn’t meet withdrawals) led to FTX price in free fall to next to nothing and all their subsidiaries filing for bankruptcy. Now this is where I need help understanding. Finish this sentence: This could have been avoided if they… 1. Didn’t sell IOUs instead the real thing 2. Held collateral 3. Borrow against customer assets Please help me where I’m going wrong. I’m trying to understand where there are gaps in my knowledge and I thought this might help others too who are too afraid to ask the question

- BTC as a Collectible If nothing else, bitcoin will always be a collectible, like rare artwork created by a deceased artist. The scarcity aspect of both bitcoin and rare artwork will always cause the value to increase overtime, especially in an inflationary economy.

- 2 BTC Questions❓️ 1. How does 21 million btc scale or spread out for use amongst 8 billion (and growing) people across the earth (not to mention corporations)? I know 1 btc equals 100 million satoshis. But when a company like Micro Strategies already owns hundreds of thousands btc, how does that get distributed amongst the masses? 2. Smart contracts... Btc was not invented for this purpose. Do people not see the value in this technology? Do you not think this tech will be used in the future? You need a L1 to accomplish the use of smart contracts, correct? Will there/can there be a decentralized L1 for the purpose of smart contracts?

- Nothing new this week, the volume keeps being constant. 32 BTC were traded last week in Venezuela only measured using LocalBitcoins. Monthly minimum wage now around 12 USD. Hi there I also like to share this here as always: *Hello there, as you probably know I'm Venezuelan living here. Have been keeping the stats of crypto (mostly BTC) for several years.* *Last weeks for months the weekly volumen has hovered between 30 and 35 BTC weekly, not that high but steady, years ago it was way higher than that (like 2k monthly).* *Why? New exchanges like Binance, AirTM, Reserve among others. Sadly these don't have public stats.* *As I always say, yes that is the MONTHLY minimum wage. Around 12 USD (down from 13 USD last week). If street exchange rate is used it is around 10 USD. You need like 10 times that just to barely live.* *People use crypto to get rid of Bolivares, exchange mining profit (as electricty is kinda free), receive remittances from relatives abroad and things like that.* *Any question please AMA* *Sources:* [*https://www.reuters.com/technology/venezuelas-economy-regresses-crypto-fills-gaps-2021-06-22/*](https://www.reuters.com/technology/venezuelas-economy-regresses-crypto-fills-gaps-2021-06-22/) [*https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation\_in\_Venezuela*](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperinflation_in_Venezuela) [*https://coin.dance/volume/localbitcoins/VED/BTC*](https://coin.dance/volume/localbitcoins/VED/BTC) [*https://coin.dance/volume/localbitcoins/VED*](https://coin.dance/volume/localbitcoins/VED) [*https://www.caracaschronicles.com/2020/10/23/you-need-285-minimum-wages-in-venezuela-to-feed-your-family/*](https://www.caracaschronicles.com/2020/10/23/you-need-285-minimum-wages-in-venezuela-to-feed-your-family/) [*https://www.caracaschronicles.com/2022/04/21/is-venezuela-doing-better/*](https://www.caracaschronicles.com/2022/04/21/is-venezuela-doing-better/) [*https://www.caracaschronicles.com/2022/04/20/the-bizarre-figures-of-venezuelas-economic-recovery/*](https://www.caracaschronicles.com/2022/04/20/the-bizarre-figures-of-venezuelas-economic-recovery/) [*https://localbitcoins.com/country/VE*](https://localbitcoins.com/country/VE) [*https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-venezuela-cafe-con-leche-index/*](https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2016-venezuela-cafe-con-leche-index/)
