- Thinking of lending in defi. How risky is this? Hey all, as the title says, thinking of lending in a liquidity pool. I've been very risk-averse only participating in governance up to this point. With governance looking like they will dramatically cut disbursements, defi looks like the only real place to make real money. I know there is impermanent loss but on a scale from 1-10 (ballpark) how risky is it to lend and what kind of returns could I expect with around 10k (coins) in algo? How long is a lending period typically? Basically, I am trying to gauge my risk. I've been cultivating this bag for a while and would be upset if I took a major hit. I know, then, don't do it but I would like to hear from some people that have done this and come out on top and also people that have lost as well. Thanks in advance!

- But Will it Run Doom? With TEAL's latest addition of Application Boxes, we could increase the amount of state data significantly - in 32kb blocks, without a maximum number of boxes as far as I know. Since the Blockchain is essentially a snapshot of a finite state machine, would it be possible to run Doom using a web browser and Algorand? Is anyone mad enough to take the challenge? There are versions of games written in assembly that I think could be converted in this way where anyone can "press a button" and it will move the game forward by one state - NES or Gameboy games come to mind. I don't think this is a great idea, but it is a difficult one. If anyone is looking for a grand programming challenge: here it is π

- How did this slip past everyone? Staci Warden made a $15 million donation to her bike club within 2 months of being appointed the CEO https://www.algorand.foundation/news/climate-ride-partnership One of the first things she did as the new head of the Foundation too. This may not seem like a lot to some people who can justify the costs as advertising but let's be real this ain't no Drone Racing League. The donation has basically doubled the amount they've raised in the past 14 years https://www.climateride.org/impact/ We need some serious transparency and accountability from the Foundation here. If anyone here is at Dechiper in Dubai, would love it if you could get the Foundation leadership to justify this in person

- Incentives Let's all step back and consider the real incentives for buying or holding ALGO. 1. It's a good technical foundation and project, so it will become the backbone of real financial systems in the future. Therefore, the ALGO we have now will become more valuable since the system will require other parties to buy ALGO to use it. 2. There is some future project which will tie Algorand into another financial market such that existing ALGO tokens will have value on a secondary market that grows in value. 3. There is some marketing campaign which will entice other people to convert something of value (fiat, other crypto coins) to ALGO because they believe ALGO will grow in value more than the asset they traded in). \#1 is the best reason to have ALGO. But it depends on business and institutional saavy to make happen. I don't see any evidence that the people involved in Algorand can make that happen. Furthermore, I don't see why the established financial systems would bother getting involved since what they currently do makes them rich and works fine for them (and the rest of the world). \#2 is just hopium. \#3 depends on marketing and hype, both of which Algorand doesn't seem to do. On the few occasions where it happens (because of them or some external force), the bump is short lived. A conspiracy theorist would believe that insiders and the foundation use such opportunities to convert large amounts of ALGO to other more valuable currencies (USD/EUR or BTC/ETH). It may turn out that those of us with thousands of actual, real value amounts invested in ALGO get screwed in the long run. If that happens, it matters a lot whether the people responsible for the bad outcome are judged to be intentional or unintentional for the outcome. If they are intentional (con artists, scammers, thieves, etc.), then we as a group should be prepared to organize and go after them legally and socially. The crypto space is full of failed projects, some of which drag on for years with the promise (and hopium) of future success. There have been hundreds. Most importantly, if it is determined that some individuals have knowingly or intentionally mislead investors and caused negative financial impacts on those investors, then the affected parties should use the full force of law and other legal tactics - including social and public pressure - to get compensation or reconciliation. These are issues which anyone currently holding ALGO should be thinking about.

- Questions for devs about NFTs I'm trying to understand how NFT works and read some of arc documentations on foundation website, but I could not find answers to these questions: 1. If I mint a NFT pointing to a url ressource I own (web site, s3 etc...), how can a future buyer be sure that I won' t change the content of the url in the future (change the jpg, audio or video file of the url)? After all, I keep the access to the website or s3 bucket... 2. Where is stored the json defining the nft (external url, properties...), somewhere on the blockchain or on an external website? 3. Is it possible to make a smart contract that change attributes/properties of an NFT? (ex in gaming: to increase the force, dexterity, experience for a character...) How to do that? (principles...). Does it means the smart contract can modify the properties directly in the json? Thanks a lot for your clarifications...

- CMV: NFT art is not useful in any situation (Gov 5, Measure 4) TL;DR; I don't see any reason to vote yes on measure 4 this governance period. I understand the power and use of NFTs in the case of FIFA, Alchemon, etc. What I cannot understand is the use of NFTs for online art (or anything that can be copied/screen-captured/photographed). If you 'own' a piece of online art, what's to stop me from copying it and displaying it elsewhere? For these reasons I expect to vote 'no' on measure 4. Please, convince me otherwise.

- Thanks Algo Price action might no be the best right now, but at least I've farmed something. Something that I couldn't touch, something that was sacred. Received a salty fine (speeding), had no money whatsoever to pay it. AlgoFi bro had my back, let me borrow against my stack. Quickly sent to Coinbase, swapped for DAI, used the CB VISA card to pay the fine.. Still got some DAI leftovers from the transactions, will buy my meds with it. And I have all the time in the world to grind more algos ('tis what I do anyway) to pay it back, when times will be less rough. (So, expect a pump now, I guess?) (Inb4 "this guy is over invested")

- Why everybody talks about Algorand but no one decentralised big project use it? I live in Italy and I study computer science. We talked about blockchain only in two courses, and in both of them we talked about BTC and also Algorand, in only one we talked about ETH (in a more thorough way than Algo tbh), and we never talked about other blockchains. I know that my university has many project based on Algo, and I read about Banca D'Italia (Italy's bank) choose Algorand for their project. Nevertheless, I never ear about very Interesting uses of Algorand around the internet, expect for de-fi application. In fact OpenSea and the most commons marketplace doesn't support Algo, and Instagram introduced NFT but not on ALGO blockchain. I know about FIFA collaboration, but I visited the FIFA's website and I notice that users don't have to pay using Algo. Is there an inconsistency between the fame of experts about algorand and its actual use? Or is this just my bias because I live in Italy and Silvio Micali is Italian?

- What happened to the algorand community? When I discovered algorand last year, I thought I had discovered gold out of all the cryptos because it was technologically better than the most and the founder was one of the best in cryptology. Everyone was enthusiastic about algorand and there was very little if any criticism or bad feelings towards it. But one year later, I come back to this community and I see a lot of salty people who no longer have faith in algorand. Thereβs no longer optimism but it feels like the magic is gone. Perhaps itβs from the bad price action due to bear market. But algorand used to feel very special. Now it feels like any other crypto investment forum. Is algorand even special to anyone anymore? I thought it was the best thing in crypto especially web3 space. Is there any hope for algorand and if there is, what do you expect algorand to accomplish?

- CDBC and Algorand Firstly, I am heavily invested in Algorand, and I have very mixed feelings about how Algorand may be at the forefront of being involved at the development of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). The negative aspects of CBDCs include the loss of privacy due to traceability, an open goal for negative interest rates, programmable money, and customisable monetary policy by individuals. If Algorand really works with governments on developing CBDC, it's from an ethical point of view rather disappointing but from a price perspective, it could skyrocket. On the other hand, if Algorand doesn't do it, someone else does, so why wouldn't I support the development of CBDC. How do you feels about this situation?

- Proposed Weekly Thread: What kind of dApp or tech innovation would you like to see on Algorand? The answer can be enterprise level solution (e.g. FOREX trading), a major protocol improvement (e.g. ring signatures), or maybe even a minor buff to something already existing (e.g. a minor tweak to wallets). It doesn't matter if it's big or small. The point is to have many ideas about what folks realistically care about in terms of tech development and maybe give devs some ideas/insight. If Mods allow, I'll post something like this weekly here and then post the top submissions to the Algorand forum and (if appropriate) the relevant related subs. I'll go first. I'm going big. I want Algorand to focus on finding foreign equivalents to Circle and to onboard as many native local currencies a possible such that we can have FOREX trading and also have a means for future retail currency exchange when we go on vacation. FOREX comes first in my mind an retail comes after. I'm not envisioning a the ideal end result of a currency terminal at the airport that will let you convert USDCa to bills/coins in a slot. Currency exchange instantaneously without the high fees. And . . .go.

- Crypto goals Anyone with crypto goals for remainder of 2022 heading into 2023? 2021 was euphoric for most projects including Algo and itβs ASAs. 2022 felt like catching a falling knife and whatever ASA you were in even Algo would drop in value. Maybe only if you got in the Defly presale you were safe. I had to hold back on buying some NFTs and DCAd my way to obtaining a small Algo accumulation goal nothing large but just a personal goal. Im heavy in ASAs such as Defly, Opulous, Smile Coin, and ASA Stats and donβt plan on selling these positions at current prices but plan to build each position through staking and wait patiently till will exit this market whenever that will be. DCA into algo and build positions into ASAs via staking is my crypto goal for 2023. Once in bull market will try to diversify into goBTC, goETH, and some USDC.
